NOAA Fisheries Service Announces the Establishment of a New Cooperative Research Program Specialist
NOAA Fisheries Service is pleased to announce the establishment of a new Cooperative Research Program Specialist position for the Northeast Regional Office and to announce that Ryan Silva has been appointed to serve in this position.
Ryan will work with the Northeast Fisheries Science Center, the New England and Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Councils as well as with constituents to enhance NOAA’s cooperative research program in the region. He will conduct a full range of review and coordination activities for research project development and reporting. He also will coordinate review of experimental fishing permit applications and provide technical advice and information to researchers on the requirements and procedures necessary to apply for and obtain exempted fishing permits, scientific research permits, and/or letters of acknowledgement.
Prior to taking this position, Ryan worked with NOAA Fisheries Service coordinating the Atlantic Sea Scallop and Herring Research Set-Aside Programs. Ryan has a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts in Natural Resource Studies and a M.S. from the University of Rhode Island in Fisheries Science.
