Right Whale Funding Opportunities

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA Fisheries Service) and National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) formed a partnership in 2002 to coordinate two grant programs that seek to further conservation efforts for critically endangered North Atlantic right whales: the Right Whale Research Program and the Atlantic Coast States Cooperative Planning for Right Whale Recovery Program. NFWF, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization established by Congress in 1984, is designed to support research, management, conservation and education/outreach activities related to the conservation, and recovery of environmental resources. Through the National Whale Conservation Fund, a special project of NFWF, NOAA Fisheries Service evaluates proposals submitted through a competitive process and makes funding recommendations to the Whale Conservation Fund Advisory Council.
