FISHERY MANAGEMENT PLANS
SPINY DOGFISH
Implementing regulations for these fisheries are found at 50 CFR Part 648 Subpart L
The spiny dogfish fishery is managed jointly by the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council and the New England Fishery Management Council, with the Mid-Atlantic having the lead. This open-access fishery utilizes an annual coastwide quota for commercial fisherman, split into two semi-annual periods, with daily possession limits designed to discourage a directed fishery.
