Download the "A Prudent Mariner’s Guide to Right Whale Protection CD-ROM"

What You'll Need

To create a copy of the CD, you will need the following:

  • a broadband Internet connection (cable, DSL, or FiOS)
  • a CD writer in your Mac or PC
  • a blank CD-R disk

Step One - Download the CD Image

The first step is to download the image file. Note that this should ONLY be attempted by broadband users as the download is large.  The approximate download time is 15 minutes or more for broadband users.

(Tip: If you have any trouble downloading this file hold down the option key (Mac) or control key (PC) prior to clicking on the download link above. When prompted choose where you would like to save the image file.)

Step Two - Burn the CD

Now that you have downloaded the disk image to your computer, the next step is to burn a copy of it to a CD. Remember, you will need a CD writer and a CD-R to do so. See below for PC and Mac instructions.

Windows Instructions

If you have a CD writer in your computer it came with software that allows you to write CDs. We cannot explain how to use all software that provides this task, however, we can try to explain the process.

Make sure you have a blank CD on hand and double-click the NOAA-RightWhalesCD.iso image file you just downloaded. Your CD writing software will start and you will be prompted to "Start Recording." Insert the blank CD-R disk into your CD writer and click the "Burn Image" button.
