Atlantic Large Whale Disentanglement Network

The disentanglement network is an effort to locate and assess entangled whales and to remove entangling gear when it is determined to be life threatening. The network includes numerous governmental and non-governmental agencies, fishermen, and other trained individuals from Canada to Florida. NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) contracts the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies to conduct disentanglements and to train volunteers.
